A month or so ago, my friend Mike and I decided to head out the mountains and go for a hike. Last year I was introduced to the Troll Falls trail, with it being easy and fast to get to from the city, it's turned into one of my favourite hikes to do. Mike had never done this hike so we decided it would be the one we did that day.
The weather around that time in Calgary was warm and we figured the trail would be in great condition. Unfortunately as it's heavily tree covered, the entire trail had a layer of ice on it. Multiple wipe outs, close calls off the side of some steeper parts, we called it a day. We were able to make it to the first falls and got shut down hard when we tried to make it to the second. Not all was lost though, we stumbled across a unique landmark and not so far away found the perfect spot for a photo shoot. I spent the entire hike back to the trail head and the drive back to Calgary putting together images I wanted to create at that spot. Which brings us to yesterday......
I've known Taylor for many years through the music scene in Calgary and I knew she'd be a great subject to shoot in the forest. My girlfriend Tina has been doing make up for years now and she's shown an interest in photography and the lighting gear that goes with it so she assisted with the lighting, tear down and killed it on the makeup.
We left the city on Sunday morning bright and early with a bunch of Timmie's and excitement to see what we could create together. Here are some of my personal favourites from the day,
